Beazley appoints Bannister as Chair Designate

Following the conclusion of an external search, Beazley has announced the appointment of Clive Bannister as Chair Designate and a non-executive director.

Beazley logoOn 21 July 2022, the firm announced that David Roberts would be standing down as Chair in the autumn of 2022 to take up the role as Chair of the Court of the Bank of England.

Beazley then formally announced that Roberts stood down with effect from 21 October 2022, whereupon Christine LaSala took up the role as Interim Chair of both the board and nomination committee with effect from the same date.

Following this new announcement, Bannister will take up the role of Chair after the firm’s AGM on 25 April 2023. He will also join the nomination committee and become its Chair following the AGM.

Bannister is currently the Chair of Rathbones Group plc and the Museum of London and was previously CEO of Phoenix Group Plc, retiring in March 2020.

He also had a distinguished career at HSBC Group where his roles included being CEO of HSBC Private Banking and Group Managing Director of Insurance.

In addition to Bannister’s extensive executive career, he has previously been a non-executive director of the Association of British Insurers, Punter Southall Group Ltd, Ignis Asset Management Ltd, and HSBC Insurance Brokers Ltd.

Bannister commented on his appointment, stating, “I am very pleased to be joining Beazley. Beazley has an outstanding reputation for innovation and delivering shareholder value.
