Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), the property & casualty insurer, has hired Jess Au as Head of General Property in Asia, succeeding Ophelia Szeto who is retiring from the role after nearly a decade of service with the company.
Based in Singapore, Au brings a deep level of technical experience and market knowledge across Asia towards her new role.
Prior to joining BHSI, she served in a number of regional managing & underwriting roles across the Singapore market, where she was most recently Regional Property Facultative Lead.

Across Asia, BHSI provides general property coverage for a variety of different classes, including manufacturing, infrastructure, and real estate, as well as stand-alone natural catastrophe coverage.
BHSI also recently expanded its marine capabilities with the appointment of Nick Holding as Head of Marine in the UK.
Further, the company also recently hired Kelly Perry as Vice President, Head of Underwriting Support for the firm’s Surety business.
