Berkshire (BHSI) promotes James Byrnes to Head of Construction Professional, NA

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has promoted James Byrnes to Head of Construction Professional, North America.

Previously, Byrnes held the role of Vice President, Construction, for BHSI’s US Eastern Region.

Overall, Byrnes has nearly 20 years of experience within the industry. Before he joined BHSI, he spent more than a decade on both the underwriting and claims sides of the business working for Zurich.

During his time at Zurich, he worked within Environmental Claims, Construction, and Professional Liability.

Prior to joining Zurich, he spent six years working as an Attorney at Mendes & Mount, LLP.

In his new role, Byrnes will continue to based in New York.

“In his new role, he will lead our efforts to take our flourishing Construction Professional business to the next level, and bring the certainty of BHSI’s financial strength, underwriting acumen, and CLAIMS IS OUR PRODUCT® philosophy to construction firms and contractors across the region.”

BHSI has recently made a string of hires, including appointing three executives to claims leadership roles in Germany, and then in March, the company promoted Ben Ruddlesdin to Head of Professional Indemnity & Cyber (UK).
