Blanc’s departure from Zurich due to clash with CEO, says FT

Zurich Insurance executive Amanda Blanc, who stepped down as CEO EMEA last week, reportedly left the company due to a “personality clash” with CEO Mario Greco, according to sources at the Financial Times.

Amanda BlancThe insurer announced on July 3 that Blanc would be resigning after less than nine months in her position.

Zurich did not give a reason for her departure, and said that it did not have an immediate successor in place.

Now, people who know the company have suggested that there were differences Blanc and Greco, who has led Zurich since 2016.

Blanc also gave up her role as Chair of the Association of British Insurers following her departure from Zurich, and is not believed to have another position lined up.

A spokesperson for Blanc told the FT: “Amanda is adamant that she will not discuss the reasons for her decision, except to say that it was only arrived at after long and careful consideration.

“As an indication of the seriousness of this decision for her personally is that as a consequence she is required to stand down as chair of the ABI, the industry body, which it has long been her personal ambition to chair.”
