Specialist re/insurance broker BMS has appointed Mike Duffy as a strategic adviser to its UK specialty business.
Duffy was appointed by Ian Gormley, UK CEO of BMS, and his appointment comes into effect in January 2023.
Overall, Duffy brings more than 40 years of industry experience towards the role. Over the course of his career, Duffy has held numerous leadership positions across a range of broking and insurance companies.
Most recently, he held the role of group chief underwriting officer at Canopius, having joined the company in 2006 as group head of property underwriting.
Additionally, Duffy has also worked as an underwriter for Ace Global Markets in London and as managing director at Guy Carpenter in New York.
Addressing his new role, Duffy, said: “BMS is a fast growing, independent broker with an exciting growth trajectory. I have worked closely with the team for many years and have always been impressed by their expertise, technological capabilities and the strong cohesive culture they have built. I look forward to assisting BMS in realising its strategic vision.”
Gormley, added: “Mike has had an incredible career as a broker, underwriter and leader. To have someone of his calibre and experience guide us in these challenging market conditions will be extremely valuable for our clients.
“On a personal basis, Mike is someone I have traded with for 20 years and to have the opportunity to work in the same business as him is extremely exciting. He will be an excellent cultural fit for BMS.”
Earlier this month, it was reported that BMS has signed a deal to acquire Spanish specialty insurance broker Eisenar, in a move that will further bolster the brokers Iberian regional expansion.
