Independent reinsurance broker BMS Re has appointed Shruti Sem as executive vice president in the firm’s origination team.
Based in Philadelphia, Sem will report to Jeff Irvan, chief property officer of BMS Re in the US.
She brings over 20 years’ experience to the role and joins from rival broker Guy Carpenter.
Prior to her time at Guy Carpenter, Sem was at JLT Re, where she held a number of senior roles including senior vice president in the reinsurance broking division.
She began her career in the industry as an actuarial analyst at XL Insurance in 2002 before joining JLT Re in 2006.
“We are excited to have Shruti join the team,” said Irvan. “She has incredibly strong analytical and marketing skills that will be crucial in helping us navigate through the significant opportunities presented by the US market.
“We anticipate her contributing to our already rapid growth, as well as our continual drive to sharpen our skill sets and capabilities.”
