Canada Life Re, the reinsurance division of The Canada Life Assurance Company, has announced the establishment of a new regional office in Singapore, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the Asia Pacific market.
The move has been accompanied by the appointment of Wil Chong as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Canada Life Services, the company’s newly established Singapore entity.
Chong has been with the business since 2022, serving as Executive Advisor for Asia Pacific. During that time, he has supported the company’s regional growth strategy and brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Canada Life Re said the opening of its Singapore office represents an important step in strengthening its presence across Asia Pacific and enhancing its ability to support clients and business partners throughout the region.
The company provides a broad range of reinsurance solutions to clients across Asia, Europe and North America, with a particular focus on bespoke capital relief solutions covering biometric risks, including longevity, mortality and lapse, alongside financial market risks.
Canada Life Re said these solutions are designed to help clients manage risk more effectively while optimising capital. The company has completed transactions across North Asia, South-East Asia and Australia.
