Canopius Group, a global specialty and property & casualty insurer and reinsurer, has appointed Melanie Brown as Head of US Claims, effective August 3rd, 2026.
In her new role, Brown will report to Steve Parry, the incoming Chief Claims Officer, Canopius Group. She will lead the reinsurer’s US claims function, ensuring the delivery of quality outcomes for policyholders and brokers and reinforce the group’s commitment to disciplined claims management.
Brown has extensive experience in claims management across specialty, P&C, and reinsurance businesses.
Most recently, she served as Head of Complex and Specialty Claims at Munich Re Specialty North America. In the role, she oversaw strategy on managing high exposure claims and driving initiatives to enhance claims performance and efficiency.
Prior to this, Brown has held senior claims leadership roles at Markel.
