Specialty and P&C re/insurer Canopius Group has appointed Uwe Schoberth as Head of Distribution, U.S. and Bermuda, and Matthew Crane as Head of UK Distribution.
The appointments are effective immediately, with Schoberth set to join the Canopius U.S. Executive Committee, and Crane to serve on the Canopius UK Executive Committee.
Collectively, Schoberth holds over three decades of experience in the insurance sector, having most recently served as Chief Distribution Officer at Joyn Insurance.
He has also previously held leadership roles at Lloyd’s as well as other U.S.-based organisations.
In the new role at Canopius, Schoberth is reportedly tasked with elevating the firm’s relationships with its global brokers, regional distribution partners and strategic clients, while also supporting the exploration of new growth opportunities.
“His responsibilities will include fostering effective communication between clients and underwriters and ensuring partners are well-versed in Canopius’ extensive expertise and capacity. Schoberth will also strategically optimize business opportunities in areas where Canopius holds a competitive advantage,” the re/insurer explained.

Meanwhile, Crane, who holds almost two decades of senior market experience, joins from PIB Group where he was CEO of Q Underwriting.
Before this, Crane spent 15 years at QBE, where he progressed to Managing Director UK and Ireland. He has also served as CEO of AMWINS Global Risks where he oversaw the business’ London and Lloyd’s market, Europe, Asia and LatAm operations.
