Canopius Group, the global specialty and property and casualty (P&C) re/insurance company, has appointed Stacey Alioto as its new Group Chief Operating Officer as the business continues to develop its international operations and long-term growth strategy.
Alioto will become a member of the Canopius Group Leadership Team and will report directly to Group Chief Executive Officer Neil Robertson. She is scheduled to take up the role in September 2026.
Joining the company from HSBC, Alioto was most recently Deputy Group Chief Operating Officer at the banking group. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, she held senior operational leadership positions across more than 60 markets, leading workforces of up to 10,000 people and overseeing substantial operational budgets.
Canopius Group said she has extensive experience of delivering large-scale operational programmes and implementing business strategy across international organisations.
According to Canopius Group, the appointment supports the company’s next stage of growth as it expands its global footprint and continues to invest in operational capability. The insurer said Alioto’s background in organisational transformation, operational delivery and building scalable business functions will support its focus on improving efficiency and sustaining future growth.

Alioto will take over from Kate Roy, who is retiring after five years as the company’s Group Chief Operating Officer.
