Carrie Byler appointed MD, Head of US General Casualty, Howden Tiger

Howden Tiger, the reinsurance and capital advisory arm of Howden Group, has announced that Carrie Byler has joined the company’s Global Casualty Division, taking on the role of Managing Director, Head of US General Casualty.

Reporting to Global Head of Casualty, Josh Everdell, Byler will focus on the growth of casualty as a core product and market differentiator for Howden Tiger.

Howden Tiger has confirmed that Byler’s role will include leadership of the US General Casualty practice, senior account responsibilities involving casualty and professional lines, and business development, as well as responding to developing market conditions and client needs.

Having previously served as a senior executive at global risk and reinsurance specialist Guy Carpenter, Byler brings a deep level of North American casualty market experience towards her new role.

Addressing Byler’s appointment, Everdell said: “Carrie has built an excellent reputation in the marketplace as a talented broker and outstanding leader. Her market knowledge furthers our depth of expertise and experience across all US Casualty lines. I am thrilled to welcome her to the Howden Tiger team.”

Moreover, Howden Tiger has been building its US Casualty practice over the last 18 months with a number of Managing Director hires.

This includes the appointment of Weston Vosburgh, who joined the company in July 2023 to build out the firm’s Workers Compensation practice and act as a senior account executive covering casualty lines.

Chris Bilski also joined the company in July 2023, bringing two decades of reinsurance experience to the business.

In addition, Steven Hanke joined the business in March 2023 from Sompo International, where he previously served as
President of North American Reinsurance, and previously, EVP, Head of Professional Liability Reinsurance US.

And lastly, David Baruch also joined the company in February 2023 from Guy Carpenter, bringing over two decades of
reinsurance broking experience to the team.
