JLT Re has named Carsten Thienel, who joins from a role with Ed as CEO of reinsurance for Asia Pacific, as its latest Asia Pacific team member, set to begin in the firm’s Singapore office early 2018.
Boasting a distinguished career of over 30 years in the industry, Thienel previously held various management roles with reinsurance giant Hannover Re in addition to acting as Ed CEO.
In his new role he will report to Stuart Beatty, CEO of Asia Pacific and Bradley Maltese Deputy CEO, UK & Europe.
Commenting on the appointment, Stuart Beatty said; “We are delighted to have Carsten join the JLT Re team. His leadership and ability to look at the business through a strategic lens will help us foster continued growth and cultivate opportunities globally.”
Bradley Maltese added that Thienel is a “great hire” as he brings experience in “multiple classes including Property Retro, Marine & Energy, Aviation, Capital markets and ILS.
“He will bring both gravitas and a huge amount of experience to JLT Re, it is testament to our culture and platform that we continue to attract market leading talent of this caliber.”
