Castel has hired Yaël Mimran and Nick Carragher to lead its contingency underwriting cell that will focus on the sports, leisure, and entertainment industries.
According to Castel, Mimran will be joining the firm from Liberty Specialty Markets, while Carragher is moving over from Tysers.
Mark Birrell, chief executive of Castel, said: “I’m delighted to be able to bring someone of Yaël’s reputation and experience into the business. Our model has opened the door to yet another exceptional individual from the market, providing all the tools needed to set up and underwrite from day one.”
Mimran brings over 25 years’ underwriting experience to Castel. As contingency class underwriter at Liberty, she started in Paris before moving to London in 2015 to take on a more global oversight role. Prior to this, she spent 12 years at AXA in various underwriting positions.
The LinkedIn profile of Mimran indicates that she spent nearly fourteen years at LSM as a contingency class underwriter, following over twelve years at AXA Re in various positions. Sandwiched between those two was a year-and-eight-months at Paris Re as head of the sport leisure entertainment division.
Carragher, meanwhile, brings 10 years’ contingency experience. He joins Castel after a three-and-a-half-year stint at Tysers, where he was an associate director. Previous to that, he spent nearly five years as an underwriter with Worldwide Special Risks.
