Catherine Thomas has become the new Managing Director for QBE Blue Ocean Re & Equator Re and International Treasurer.
Equator Re is QBE’s Bermuda domiciled captive reinsurer, and Blue Ocean Re is the captive reinsurer for its North American operations.
Thomas joins QBE from AM Best, a credit rating agency, where she served as Senior Director, Head of Analytics for over 17 years.
Prior to that, she was Deputy Group Security Officer at Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), a British multinational corporation that provides re/insurance advice and brokerage services.
Before JLT, Thomas served as Risk Analyst at Arium Risk Architecture, a developer of risk models for the reinsurance industry which was acquired by Verisk in 2017.
The news of Thomas’ hire follows the appointment of Hannah Farrer Fisher as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Equator Re and Blue Ocean Re; as well as the promotion of James Haggerty to Head of Commercial Programs.
