Cedar Trace, an investment management firm focused on insurance-linked securities (ILS), has announced the appointment of Chris Wilson as Managing Director of its Capital Management division, as the company continues to develop its ILS investment platform.
Wilson is based in Bermuda and will work across Cedar Trace’s ILS operations, supporting areas including underwriting, investor relations, fundraising and the introduction of new product initiatives.
He will represent the firm in both Bermuda and international ILS markets as it expands its reach and operational scope.
Wilson joins Cedar Trace with more than 20 years’ experience in reinsurance and insurance-linked securities. Most recently, he held the role of Senior Vice President, Advisory and Head of Underwriting at Artex Capital Solutions in Bermuda.
Before that, he spent close to seven years in Artex’s Guernsey office, where he worked as Head of ILS Underwriting and as an ILS Underwriter. Earlier in his career, Wilson spent nearly 11 years at Willis Re as a Divisional Director within its Japan team, including a four-year period based in Tokyo. He is fluent in Japanese and brings experience of the Japanese reinsurance market, which Cedar Trace highlighted as part of his expertise.
Cedar Trace said the appointment supports its objective of building an institutional-standard platform designed to provide access to risk transfer opportunities for investors, alongside governance and operational standards aligned with institutional capital expectations.
Fergus Reynolds, Head of ILS at Cedar Trace, commented: “Chris brings a strong combination of market knowledge and execution experience gained over many years in the ILS sector. His deep understanding of both the underwriting and operational aspects of the market makes him an excellent fit for Cedar Trace. We are delighted to welcome him to the team and look forward to working closely with him as we continue to strengthen and expand our institutional platform.”
Wilson added: “Cedar Trace has built an impressive platform with a clear vision for the future of ILS investing. I am excited to join the team at such an important stage of its development and look forward to working to continue enhancing the firm’s operational capabilities, investor offering, and market presence.”
