Chaucer’s Zak Mallen has joined global re/insurance broker Aon, as Managing Director and the Head of Strategic Growth, Casualty Reinsurance, in Bermuda.
He joins Aon following a decade of service at Chaucer, where he most recently served as a US casualty reinsurance underwriter.
He first joined the firm in June 2013, taking on the role of a deputy class underwriter, before later going on to serve as a class underwriter in 2019.
Before joining Chaucer, Mallen spent just under six years working as an assistant underwriter at Aspen Insurance Group.
In a statement, Mallen said: “After 10 superb years at Chaucer Group I’m on to pastures new. I am truly grateful to have worked alongside so many top class people in the last decade. It has been a privilege.
“Returning recharged after paternity leave with my family, I am delighted to say that I’ve joined Aon as a Head of Strategic Growth for Casualty Reinsurance in Bermuda. Can’t wait to get cracking in a phenomenal team we have here on island.”
In related news, Aon is said to be looking to enhance its risk capital capability offering in India with the acquisition of Global Insurance Brokers, a composite re/insurance brokerage offering services across 17 offices.
At the same time, the company also recently appointed Isabel Blazquez Solano as CEO of Brazil, and Daniela Diaz as head of Peru, within its Reinsurance Solutions business.
