Chedid Re has appointed Chandan Thakur to the role of associate director in its facultative division – financial lines.
The Dubai-based Thakur posted on the social media site to say that the firm had promoted him from deputy manager for financial lines. Thakur is taking up his new role after a little over the year with the firm. He joined in August 2021, following two-and-a-half years at Gulf Insurance & Reinsurance and over six-and-a-half years at SBI General Insurance.
Thakur wrote: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as associate director in the facultative division – financial lines at Chedid Re! It has been exciting journey so far. Thanks to the #management for recognition.”
This news comes days after the firm appointed a new CEO in Elie Abi Rached, which was announced last week.
At the same time, Joe Asmar has been named as deputy chief executive officer of Chedid Re’s global operations whilst retaining his position as group head of facultative reinsurance. Wadih Hardini was also appointed as deputy head of facultative reinsurance of Chedid Re’s global operations whilst also retaining his position as general manager of Chedid Re Dubai.
There is a lot going on with the firm at the moment. In June, it said it had signed a five-year partnership with flood risk modeller JBA Risk Management. The partnership will allow the broker to use JBA’s global flood model, which will enable Chedid Re to provide flood risk analytics and catastrophe modelling services to its clients across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.
Chedid Re will access the global flood model via its existing relationship with Nasdaq Risk Modelling for Catastrophes.
