Specialty property and casualty insurer Coaction has appointed William (Bill) Sloan as executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), effective immediately.

In his new role, Sloan will oversee Coaction’s finance organisation, including accounting, controllership, financial planning and analysis, tax, investor relations, asset management, and treasury. He will be based at the company’s New York office.

Sloan brings with him over 20 years of extensive experience in financial, capital markets, and strategic advisory roles.

Prior to joining Coaction, he served as the managing director and head of insurance solutions at Sculptor Capital Management, where he enjoyed a successful tenure. Throughout his career, Sloan has held executive leadership positions at J.P. Morgan Securities and Bank of America/Merrill Lynch.

He began his professional journey at Ernst & Young, where he worked as a certified public accountant (C.P.A.), before specialising in global investment banking, alternative investment management, capital raising, strategic advisory services, capital market transactions, and initial public offerings (IPOs).

Coaction CEO Jonathan Ritz expressed his enthusiasm for Sloan’s appointment, stating, “This is an exciting time for Coaction. Over the past two years we have significantly increased the strength of our balance sheet, broadened our product offerings, expanded our distribution relationships, and deepened the underwriting and risk acumen of Coaction. We have also assembled a highly talented and experienced management team and the addition of Bill increases that strength and aligns well with the future of Coaction.”

As CFO, Sloan will work closely with Gerald Ayash, the company’s chief accounting officer (CAO), to manage the day-to-day finance operations. This collaborative approach will enable Sloan to focus on capital management, investor relations, and strategic advisory responsibilities, serving as a valuable advisor to CEO Jonathan Ritz.

Ayash, an accomplished finance and operations executive, brings a wealth of experience in directing fiscal activities within insurance organisations. He joined Coaction after serving as CFO for Western World Insurance Group.
