Consilium appoints Suzanne Bazire as COO

5th December 2022 - Author: Pete Carvill

Broker firm Consilium has appointed Suzanne Bazire to be its new COO.

The company, part of The Aventum Group, said that this was its third new senior leadership appointment in as many months.

Bazire will be responsible for leading the operations for Consilium across all of its people and processes. She will standardise processes across its divisions to ensure a robust infrastructure is in place that is scalable and primed for significant planned growth.

James Baird, CEO and managing partner at Consilium, said: “It has been just eighteen months since the Aventum Group and its global specialty MGA and broking brand was launched. Since then, we’ve been investing heavily in Consilium with exciting plans ahead globally for our broking business. We’ve successfully attracted leading talent to the business: we launched our DUA Service eXponential back in June, I joined the business earlier this year, we then launched ProEx, our professional executive risks team including a new office in Guernsey, and we’ve now hired a COO, a head of claims, and established a dedicated in-house claims team for Consilium, all in the space of a few months.”

He added: “Consilium’s global operations are now of such a scale and size that warrants a dedicated COO. 2023 will be nothing short of transformational as we establish ourselves in new territories and product lines around the world and Suzanne’s role will be central in allowing us to scale whilst maintaining high quality control.”

Bazire was previously the divisional operations director of retail at Tysers. She began her twenty-year insurance career as a wholesale account handler in aviation and marine at Tysers before moving to Marsh McLennan for nearly five years to specialise in Latin American Aviation. She followed this with nearly five years at Integro/Tysers specialising in operations for contingency and retail business.

She said: “I was immediately struck by the infectious entrepreneurial positive attitude at Consilium. The people are impressive and work hard to do the right thing for our clients. With a 50/50 gender split globally, and an average age of 30, they show diversity in practice across this $1.1bn insurance group. It’s not hard to see why I was attracted to join them. In real terms, they are at the start of what promises to be a thrilling journey. I’m excited to be a part of that and use my experience to help shape its development.”
