Convex appoints Simons to Bermuda CEO, names Chandler Group Deputy CUO Reinsurance

International specialty re/insurer Convex Group Limited has appointed Paul Simons to the role of Bermuda Chief Executive Officer, and Christophe Chandler to the role of Group Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer Reinsurance.

convex-logoBoth appointments are effective January 1, 2024, subject to regulatory approval.

In their new respective roles, Simons will continue to be based in Bermuda, while Chandler will be based in London.

They will both report to Matt Paskin, Group Chief Underwriting Officer Reinsurance and Chairman of the reinsurance executive committee (RExCo).

Simons joined Convex in December 2022 as Deputy CEO of Bermuda, bringing more than 25 years of experience across the Bermudian reinsurance market.

Simons joined Convex from AXA XL, having previously worked for its predecessor companies XL Catlin, XL Re and XL Mid Ocean. Since beginning his career in the industry in 1994, Simons has held a number of senior industry positions, which included a previous stint as CEO of Bermuda Reinsurance AXA XL.

Meanwhile, Chandler joined Convex in 2019 leading reinsurance specialty.

Overall, Chandler possesses a wealth of experience in Property and Specialty across the London, Bermuda and European markets.

Following these appointments, Convex RExCo will be made up of the following: Matt Paskin, Group CUO Reinsurance, Chairman, Paul Simons, Bermuda CEO, Christophe Chandler, Group Deputy CUO Reinsurance, Roy Foster, UK CUO Reinsurance, and Richard Slater, Bermuda CUO Reinsurance.
