Lloyd’s has today unveiled the next 11 InsurTech startups joining the seventh group of the Lloyd’s Lab innovation accelerator programme, which this time will focus on the development of simpler products and solutions targeting the cryptocurrency space.

lloyd'sLloyd’s selected its next cohort of InsurTech startups from 179 applications, with each successful team impressing an expert panel of Lloyd’s and market stakeholders during the pitch process.

The specialist insurance and reinsurance market has chosen the 11 startups based on solutions focused on claims, data and models, and cryptocurrencies.

This is also the second cohort in row in which Lloyd’s considered wildcard entrants who presented solutions outside of the three main themes.

“We’re excited to welcome the new teams to the Lloyd’s Lab for our seventh cohort,” said Ed Gaze, Lloyd’s Lab Senior Manager. “The decision to invite InsurTech’s with expertise in digital currency and cyber follows an increase in new and sophisticated attacks targeted at businesses, individuals and governments, which pose an increasing challenge for the insurance industry.
