Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, a prominent global law firm, has announced the appointment of Drew Dutton and Clare Swirski as co-heads of its UK/European insurance transactional and regulatory practice.
This strategic move is aimed at bolstering the firm’s presence in the thriving UK/European insurance market.
Dutton, currently based in the firm’s New York office, will be relocating to London for his new role. Having joined Debevoise in 1999, he became a partner in the Paris office in 2007 and has a wealth of experience in high-profile insurance transactions across North America, Asia, and Europe.
Dutton’s expertise extends to regulatory matters, and he is qualified to practice in New York, England, Hong Kong, and France.
Swirski, a seasoned insurance regulatory and transactional lawyer, has been with the firm’s London office since 2017. With over 25 years of experience, including a previous role as a partner at a Magic Circle firm, she has been actively involved in advising insurers and financial institutions on corporate matters.
Swirski specialises in navigating regulatory developments impacting the insurance and financial services sectors, including key areas such as Solvency II and Brexit.
The UK/European practice operates within the Global Insurance Group, chaired by partners Nick Potter and Marilyn Lion.
The practice collaborates with both public and privately held insurance companies, as well as private equity sponsors, offering comprehensive services in M&A, reinsurance, and regulatory matters, including cross-border transactions.
