Reinsurance brokerage Ed has announced the hiring of James Blacker from rival Arthur J Gallagher, who will join the firm as managing director of its property and casualty P&C division.
Blacker will begin in the role in December and will report to Chris Bonard, CEO of Ed Specialty.
He has more than 23 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, most recently having spent over a decade with Arthur J Gallagher where he served as executive director for the casualty division.
Before that, Blacker was an associate director at Jardine Lloyd Thompson, broking large casualty accounts as well as managing and developing the firm’s Australasian book of business.
Chris Bonard commented on the hire; “Ed has increasingly become a magnet for the market’s leading brokers. We are committed to fostering an environment which encourages talent, entrepreneurialism and where brokers genuinely act in the interests of our clients.
“James is an excellent addition to our growing team. With his exceptional experience and expertise he is the ideal candidate to spearhead the growth of our property and casualty division. I am delighted to welcome him to the team.”
