Eric Matheny, formerly of Allianz Global Corporate and Speciality (AGCS), has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of broker BMS Group’s reinsurance arm, BMS Re, effective immediately.
Matheny takes over from current US CFO, Steve Korducki, who will transition to a more active role in client facing activities, with a focus on Capital Advisory, Property Cat Solutions and corporate strategic alliances as Vice Chairman of BMS Re.
In his new role, Matheny will be based in the firm’s Chicago office and will report to Pete Chandler, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BMS Re.
Matheny, who joins from North America at AGCS, where he most recently served as Head of Operations, brings more than 34 years’ experience in both finance and operations roles to BMS Re.
Previously, he ran his own consultancy business for two years as a financial planner based in Chicago. He started his career in finance in General Electric’s Financial Management Program in 1987, after which he held senior roles at General Electric, including as CFO of its French life insurance company, Vie Plus, and as CFO of GE Capital’s Consumer Lending business.
