Specialty insurance managing general agent (MGA) Fiducia has named Brian Laflin as a senior development underwriter.
Laflin joins the Leeds-based MGA from Lonham Group, where he was a senior underwriter writing for both Chaucer syndicate and company.
He has also previously held senior underwriting and development roles with Marsh and Aon MGA’s including Victor Insurance and International Transport & Maritime Underwriters.
Commenting on the new role, Laflin said, “Fiducia has established a formidable reputation in a short space of time built on its client-first approach, high service ethic and competitive pricing.
“The company’s high standing within the UK MGA market was a key to my deciding to join Fiducia. I am looking forward to actively supporting clients and brokers on their marine cargo product requirements whilst also building new relationships.”
Welcoming Laflin to the firm, Fiducia CEO Gerry Sheehy commented, “Brian has a strong all-round skillset in technical underwriting, business development and account management.
“He is a terrific addition to the business and will enable our marine cargo team to meet the growing demand we are experiencing from clients and brokers.
“Brian has over 20 years experience, is highly motivated with a professional approach to his work. This aligns perfectly with our ‘can-do’ attitude at Fiducia and will further strengthen our broker relationships.”
Sheehy continued, “At a time of substantial renewal increases from some insurers, we remain committed to providing brokers with positive client service and competitive rating in conjunction with A-grade capacity. Brian’s appointment further bolsters our ability to do this, and I look forward to working with him to support our brokers.”
