Reinsurance brokerage Gallagher Re has hired Hamilton Re’s Richard Sammons as Head of Aerospace for the UK division.
A well-known figure across the specialty reinsurance landscape, Sammons brings 25 years of broking and underwriting experience towards his new role.
For the last 10 years, Sammons has served as Head of Specialty at Hamilton Re in Bermuda.
If you recall, in December, it was reported that Peter Riihiluoma had been named SVP, Head of Specialty Reinsurance at Hamilton Re, succeeding Sammons.
Prior to Hamilton Re, Sammons spent 11 years at QBE Re, working in portfolio management and aviation and space roles.
In addition, he also previously worked at Willis Re and Aon.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed, that Mark Hudson, who previously served as Head of Aerospace will be staying with Gallagher Re and moving into the role of Chairman of Aerospace, where he will be assisting Sammons with the management of the team whilst also focusing on driving growth and supporting clients.
