Reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced the promotion of André Gerling to Head of Region for DACH, Netherlands and Central and Eastern Europe.
He will take up this new position in June 1, 2024, when the current DACH leader, Hamish Dowlen, formally moves into the role of Managing Director of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA)
Commenting on Gerling’s appointment, Dowlen said: “Andre has many years of experience in the region and across different parts of Europe and is well-known to our clients and reinsurers. I look forward to continuing to work with Andre in his new role and I’m confident that he is the right person to lead our business in this region going forward.”
Gerling joined Gallagher Re though the acquisition of Willis Re, and has been part of the company ever since. His most recent, and current, role is as Head of Large & Complex Clients EMEA.
In early February, the broker announced the appointment of Hamish Dowlen as Managing Director of Europe for EMEA, in addition to her leadership of the Nordic region.
Dowlen has been leading the DACH business, recently adding CEE & Holland to his management responsibilities, for the past five years. He will take over his new role on June 1.
