Leading Nordic insurance group Gjensidige has hired Aleksander Hope as a new Director in its Reinsurance division based in Oslo, Norway.
Hope had previously worked at a reinsurance company and an insurance-linked securities (ILS) specialist, giving him broad experience across the various types of reinsurance capital and structures that can be used to deploy it.
Hope began his career in reinsurance at AXIS Capital working his way up from a claims role to become an underwriter of property catastrophe and engineering risks, based in Zurich.
Hope moved on from AXIS in 2014, shifting to the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market to join the ILS underwriting and investment team of private bank LGT.
He joined Gjensidige this month, as Director, Reinsurance.
The company said in a statement, “We are pleased that Alex Hope joined the Reinsurance Team at Gjensidige on Jan 1st 2019 as a Director of Reinsurance.”
Hope’s experience across claims, underwriting and operations, as well as his experience with collateralized reinsurance and ILS structures, will assist Gjensidige’s reinsurance operations.
