Guy Carpenter, the global reinsurance broking arm of Marsh, has announced the appointment of Pietro Toffanello, formerly of Gen Re, as Head of Japan, effective Q1 2021.
In his new role, Toffanello takes on responsibility for managing the broker’s business activities across Japan, reporting to Tony Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asia Pacific at Guy Carpenter.
Based in Tokyo, Toffanello will have a focus on developing new business opportunities and extending the breadth of solutions Guy Carpenter offers across the region to better meet evolving client needs.
He brings more than 25 years of reinsurance industry experience to the role, most recently serving as Managing Director for Property & Casualty for the UK, Ireland, Italy and Sub-Saharan Africa at Gen Re. Previously, he was Managing Director, and CEO of Gen Re Australia and Regional Manager for Property & Casualty treaty business for Asia and the Pacific region. Earlier in his career, Toffanello served as CEO of Faraday.
