Guy Carpenter, the reinsurance broking arm of Marsh McLennan, has announced the appointment of Aon’s Sebastian Cook as Managing Director and Head of London Europe, effective immediately.
In his new role, Cook will lead the London-based teams focusing on European business and the newly formed European Broking Solutions Team, focused on working with local offices to build and execute customized reinsurance strategies for the continent.
Additionally, he will be tasked with further developing the firm’s catastrophe strategy across the European region and its approach to European reinsurer management, and is expected to play a key role in directing the reinsurance broker’s international RFP initiative.
Cook will report to Massimo Reina, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Europe at Guy Carpenter.
He joins the company from broker Aon, where he most recently served as Head of EMEA London and Deputy CEO, Nordic and Baltic Region. In this capacity, he had responsibility for the production and serving of large accounts across Continental Europe.

The appointment of Cook follows news of a number of defections from the London reinsurance team of Guy Carpenter to broker Howden.
