Additionally, he will be tasked with further developing the firm’s catastrophe strategy across the European region and its approach to European reinsurer management, and is expected to play a key role in directing the reinsurance broker’s international RFP initiative.

Cook will report to Massimo Reina, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Europe at Guy Carpenter.

He joins the company from broker Aon, where he most recently served as Head of EMEA London and Deputy CEO, Nordic and Baltic Region. In this capacity, he had responsibility for the production and serving of large accounts across Continental Europe.

“With Sebastian on board, our ability to deliver deep local market insight combined with our international services will be further strengthened, allowing us to better service our clients in the region.”

The appointment of Cook follows news of a number of defections from the London reinsurance team of Guy Carpenter to broker Howden.
