Michael Harden has left Willis Re to join reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter as President of Asia Pacific, effective immediately.
Harden brings more than 45 years of insurance and reinsurance industry experience to his new role.
He joined Willis Re in Australia in 1991 as a Director before being made Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2006. During his tenure, he also served as CEO of Willis Re Bermuda.
Willis Re is the reinsurance broking arm of Willis Towers Watson (WTW), although the treaty operations of the firm were recently sold to Gallagher.
As Guy Carpenter’s President of Asia Pacific, Harden will work closely with colleagues and clients across the broker’s network of offices in the region. He will play a vital role in further expanding the range and enhancing the delivery of the client services that it provides.
Harden will be based in Australia and will report to Tony Gallagher, CEO of Asia Pacific, Guy Carpenter.
Gallagher commented: “We are excited to welcome Michael to Guy Carpenter at a time of significant evolution in the market. With over four decades of global operating experience in (re)insurance, handling specialty accounts as well as long-standing industry relationships in the Asia Pacific region, he will certainly add further depth to our already strong presence in the market.
“Michael’s appointment highlights our commitment to attracting the best global talent to deliver a consistently outstanding client experience.”
