HDI Global, a corporate and specialty insurer within the Talanx Group, has announced the appointment of Kai Schulte-Schrepping as its new Head of Liability Global Risk, effective 1 July.
The move forms part of an internal leadership transition, with continued focus on strengthening both the global Liability portfolio and the US market.
HDI Global confirmed that Schulte-Schrepping will succeed Daniel Maurer, who is gradually stepping back from his current leadership responsibilities as he moves towards retirement, while remaining within the organisation in a new role.
Schulte-Schrepping has more than a decade of experience within the company and brings strong technical underwriting expertise alongside leadership experience in complex global Liability business.
In his new position, he will take overall responsibility for the worldwide Liability Global Risk portfolio and will report to Dr. Mukadder Erdönmez, Member of the Executive Board of HDI Global responsible for Liability, Cyber, Motor and the US Market.
Maurer, who joined HDI Global in 2021, has been credited by HDI Global with playing a key role in shaping the Liability Global Risk strategy, expanding the portfolio and strengthening its market offering. He will continue to support HDI Global in a US Market Management role, also reporting to Dr. Erdönmez.
Schulte-Schrepping commented: “I am honoured to take over the role as Head of Liability Global Risk and to build on the strong foundation that we as a team have created over the past years under Daniel’s leadership. I look forward to taking on the challenge of following in Daniel’s footsteps to further build our portfolio and market position.”
Dr. Mukadder Erdönmez said: “Kai’s promotion is a strong signal of our deep talent bench, continuity and future ambitions in Liability Global Risk. I am pleased to work with him on this next step and wish him every success as he continues to strengthen our global market position, acting as the preferred partner in transformation for our clients and brokers.”
Dr. Erdönmez added: “Dani has been instrumental in building up our Liability Global Risk organisation and portfolio over the last five years. His dedication, expertise and leadership have shaped the success and strong market reputation of HDI in the field of complex Liability risks. I am very grateful for his contribution and particularly pleased that Daniel will stay at HDI Global and help expand our US presence with his expertise.”
Maurer stated: “Leading Liability Global Risk has been a truly rewarding chapter in my professional journey. I am proud of what we have built together and grateful to the many colleagues who made this possible. I look forward to staying with HDI Global and contributing my experience to the further development of our US market activities.”
