Hottinger to succeed Ekberg as President of EMEA & LatAm, AXIS Re

The reinsurance arm of Bermudian company AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, AXIS Re, has appointed Andy Hottinger as President of EMEA and LatAm, succeeding Jan Ekberg.

andy hottingerEkberg is leaving the company in July 2019 after a 45 year career in the insurance and reinsurance industry, 15 of which spent with AXIS.

His replacement, Hottinger, has previously held a number of underwriting managerial positions with the reinsurer, most recently serving as Head of Property EMEA, having previously served as Head of Engineering and Property Risk.

Hottinger’s appointment is effective July 1st, 2019, and will see him join the firm’s Reinsurance Leadership Team, reporting directly to AXIS Re’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Steve Arora.

Commenting on Hottinger’s appointment, Arora said: “Andy has a deep understanding of our company’s strategy and values, as well as opportunities for future growth. He is a respected leader who has continually delivered high-quality results. His mix of technical expertise and people leadership skills will serve AXIS Re well as he assumes leadership of our important EMEA and LatAm reinsurance business.
