INSHUR names James Rawstron as Director of Underwriting to drive European expansion

Leading on-demand insurance platform, INSHUR, has announced the appointment of James Rawstron as its new Director of Underwriting, marking a strategic move to solidify its position as an embedded insurance specialist within the rapidly expanding on-demand economy.

Rawstron, an industry veteran with a robust background, is set to spearhead the company’s European business growth while maintaining a sharp focus on underwriting profitability.

His extensive experience and insights make him an ideal fit for the role. This appointment follows INSHUR’s recent achievements, including a successful Series B up-round capital raise of USD $26 million and the strategic acquisition of American Business Insurance Services in the US.

A qualified actuary, Rawstron joins INSHUR after a successful tenure at Munich Re, where he notably served as the Head of Performance Management, Distribution at Munich Re Specialty Group.

His contributions also played a pivotal role in the development of Munich Re Digital Partners, where he led the Pricing and Actuarial function.

Rawstron’s dedication and expertise are further underscored by his active involvement as a member of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries Insurtech Working Party. Prior to his role at Munich Re, he honed his skills and knowledge within the UK motor market, holding various positions across Pricing and Underwriting at Ageas.
