The Board of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has named Vivek Bhatia, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Australian & New Zealand Operations of QBE Insurance, Richard Feledy, the Managing Director of Allianz Australia, and Sue Houghton the General Manager of Insurance BT Financial Group as new directors of the board.
Bhatia’s appointment follows the promotion of Patrick Regan to Group CEO of QBE Insurance, and Feledy joins as a Director following the promotion of Niran Peiris to the board of management of the global Allianz Group.
ICA CEO Rob Whelan said the appointees would provide invaluable insights and guidance at a time when the sector was facing several key public inquiries, “the Board is pleased Sue, Richard and Vivek have agreed to join the Board. It’s rare to have three highly credentialed industry figures join at the same time.
“On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Niran Peiris and Pat Regan for their service and contributions to the Insurance Council, and note they will continue to provide leadership in the industry in their new roles.”
Current board members are; President Richard Enthoven, Chief Executive Officer, The Hollard Insurance Company; Deputy President, Gary Dransfield, Chief Executive Officer Insurance, Suncorp; and Executive Director and CEO Rob Whelan, Chief Executive Officer, Insurance Council of Australia.
