HDI Global Specialty, a specialty lines insurer, has named Jamie Bowes as the new General Manager for Aviation of its Scandinavian Branch.
His role came into effect on January 1, 2024.
Bowes previously served as Head of General Aviation, making him highly experienced within this space.
In his new role, he will hold responsibility for all classes of aviation business underwritten by HDI Global Specialty, whilst also leading the Center of Competence for the group’s global aviation business.
Bowes’ appointment follows on from the retirement of the previous General Manager, Mats Westerborn, who has been with HDI Global Specialty since its inception in January 2019, and previously with Hannover Re, Stockholm Branch since 2009.
Bowes joined HDI Global Specialty in 2019 as Head of Aviation, based in Australia, covering the Asia Pacific region.
Fast-forward to 2022, he then moved to the Stockholm office as part of a planned succession.
A 24-year veteran within the aviation insurance industry, Bowes’ career spans across the London, Australasian and European markets, across many facets of aviation insurance – both broking and underwriting.
From what we understand, his new role will encompass driving the strategy for the aviation division and looking to harmonize opportunities both locally and internationally.
HDI Global Specialty Member of Executive Board, Thomas Barenthein, commented: “The appointment of Jamie Bowes as the new General Manager reflects his expertise and proven leadership in aviation insurance. Jamie’s transition from Head of General Aviation to General Manager, a part of our planned succession strategy, ensures that we continue to sharpen our client and broker focus. This strategic move underlines our dedication to maintaining and enhancing the highest standards of service and expertise that our clients and partners have come to expect .”
