Willis Re, the reinsurance advisory and broking joint venture between Bain Capital (BCIS) and WTW, has hired John Fletcher from Guy Carpenter to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its Bermuda platform, effective immediately.
Fletcher brings more than 35 years of reinsurance and retrocession experience to the role, and is recognised as an experienced practitioner on the island.
Most recently, he served as CEO of Bermuda at Guy Carpenter, the reinsurance broking arm of Marsh, having led the company’s Bermuda operations since 2018. He moved to Bermuda in 2013 to lead Guy Carpenter’s property retro team.
During his career, Fletcher has developed extensive expertise in delivering bespoke reinsurance solutions, and developed long-standing relationships with clients and market participants around the world.
As CEO of Willis Re Bermuda, Fletcher is responsible for driving business growth and the continued development of the team. He will also oversee both the execution and implementation of strategic plans aligned with the broker’s objectives, and have oversight of all operational activities, working to ensure the business remains agile and responsive to evolving market dynamics.

This appointment comes just a day after Willis Re announced Jim Summers as its new Global Specialties CEO.
