Johnny Bøgelund replaces Gero Michel as Head of Chaucer Copenhagen

Global specialty insurance and reinsurance group, Chaucer has announced the appointment of Johnny Bøgelund as Head of Chaucer Copenhagen.

In his new role, Bøgelund will be responsible for managing the firm’s European and Scandinavian underwriting portfolios, and will work with teams in Copenhagen, Oslo and London to support the long-term development and growth of Chaucer Copenhagen.

He will also be tasked with growing the Danish branch of Chaucer Insurance Company DAC in Ireland, which is rated A- by S&P and which is supported by global reinsurer China Re.

Bøgelund brings more than 35 years of industry experience to the role, and joined Chaucer in 2009 from Maersk, initially working as a Marine Underwriter before adding Political Violence to his remit.

He replaces Gero Michel, who recently joined broker Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions arm to lead UK & EMEA Analytics.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) at Chaucer, John Fowle, said: “Johnny has a wealth of underwriting expertise, business experience and proven leadership capabilities and has established himself as a key contributor to Chaucer and our customers.
