Juniper Re, the reinsurance broking arm and indirect subsidiary of The Baldwin Group, has collaborated with Reask, a climate and catastrophe risk assessor, on the delivery of pre- and post-landfall hurricane wind speeds and precipitation forecast data to Juniper Re clients.
According to Juniper Re, despite recent advancements, translating information like hurricane paths and probabilities for pre-landfall forecasts into actionable risk metrics “remains an obstacle” to formulating an appropriate, necessary response.
However, the firm noted that through proprietary data and AI models, Reask provides better information and guidance for time-sensitive decision-making.
Juniper Re continued, “Reask delivers accurate high-definition wind fields data and quantifies forecast uncertainty, assessing probabilities to wind speeds for every 1 km grid cell in the hurricane’s path, days in advance enabling more precise, directed response planning.
“The access to Reask’s Metryc and LiveCyc products signifies an important step forward in Juniper Re’s mission to deliver cutting-edge technologies that address the challenges posed by natural catastrophes.”
Juniper Re’s Head of Catastrophe Analytics, Adam Miron, commented on the collaboration, “We are excited to include Reask in our portfolio of event response solutions. The approach taken by Reask for assessing hurricane risk is cutting-edge and results in unmatched precision.
“We like to work with leading data providers and experts like Reask who are dynamic, innovative, nimble, and intensely focused on their core mission, providing our clients with the best solutions in the market.”
Jamie Rodney, Chief Executive Officer at Reask, said, “As the intensity of hurricanes continues to escalate, the precise measurement of potential impact is more important than ever.
“We are pleased to integrate our market-leading hurricane risk data into Juniper Re’s event response solutions, helping to inform critical decisions and minimize losses.”
