KlaptonRe, a Zambia-based reinsurer, has appointed Tionge Simbeye to the role of Chief Underwriting Officer.
Simbeye brings to his new role almost 14 years of industry experience, spending close to two of them as KlaptonRe’s Head of Underwriting prior to his new appointment.
The company focuses on treaty and facultative reinsurance business across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
It is affiliated with – through common ultimate ownership – Klapton Insurance Company (KIC), an insurer and reinsurer registered in the Autonomous Island of Anjouan, Union of Comoros and formed in 2005.
Before joining KlaptonRe in 2021, Simbeye spent over four years at NICO Insurance Zambia Limited as a Reinsurance and Specialised Risks Manager.
He was also Head of Treaty & Facultative Business for Prima Reinsurance Plc, following his first role at NICO Insurance in 2009 as a Superintendent in the Reinsurance Department.
