David Sungjin Kim has become the new Chief Executive Officer of Korean Re London, a position he will hold while also maintaining his role as Director of Korean Re Underwriting Limited (KRUL).
Korean Re London is a wholly owned subsidiary of Seoul based reinsurer Korean Re.
The executive has been with Korean Re since 2007 when he joined the company as Claims Handler, Domestic Marine Hull & Mutuals. He has held a number of roles growing in responsibility since then, both in Korea and the UK.
These roles include: Assistant Underwriter; Underwriter, International Marine Hull; Claims Handler, P&C; Assistant Client Manager, London; Underwriter, Domestic Marine Hull; Underwriter Manager, and International Marine Hull and Upstream Energy.
Kim’s promotion comes shortly after Korean Re announced the appointment of Michael Hinz as CEO of Korean Re Switzerland.
Hinz, who took over his new role on July 1, succeeds Markus Eugster, who stepped down from the role having served as CEO since the subsidiary’s inception.
