Law firm Devonshires adds re/insurance expert to litigation team

Full service law firm Devonshires has expanded its Litigation & Dispute Resolution team with the appointment of re/insurance practitioner Stephen Netherway.

stephen-netherway-devonshireNetherway will be tasked with helping to form a new insurance practice area as part of the firm’s growth strategy.

He has more than 30 years’ experience and joins Devonshires from CMS Litigation and Arbitration group, where he most recently served as a Senior Insurance and Reinsurance Partner.

Netherway was appointed as a partner at CMS after arriving from Dentons as an associate in 1993. During this time, he also worked as Head of the Insurance sector at CMS UK.

Devonshire noted that Netherway has wide-ranging disputes and arbitration experience, particularly in respect of major insurance and reinsurance disputes, coverage issues and claims.

He also has considerable trial experience, ranging from major and appellate UK Law Courts, to domestic and international arbitration panels.

“Stephen is an excellent lawyer, who will bring a wealth of indispensable knowledge to Devonshires,” said Philip Barden, Senior Partner at Devonshires.

“His appointment will bring a brand new practice, which crucially, will help to shape our expanding Litigation & Dispute Resolution team,” he added. “Stephen’s appointment reflects our growth and success, and we are delighted to appoint him.”

Netherway’s appointment is effective from 1 May 2019, and brings the total number of partners in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution team to 6, backed by a team of solicitors and support staff.
