Allianz Group, the global insurance and financial services provider, is changing the leadership of Allianz Partners and Allianz Direct.
The appointments follow Tomas Kunzmann’s appointment to the Allianz SE Board of Management and are intended to provide continuity across both businesses while supporting their respective growth plans. All appointments are subject to regulatory approval, with the changes scheduled to take effect on 1 November 2026.
Philipp Kroetz, Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Direct since 2022, will become Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Partners. He will succeed Kunzmann.
Laurent Floquet, currently Chief Operating Officer of Allianz Partners, will take over from Kroetz as Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Direct. Floquet will also assume his new position on 1 November 2026. Allianz has yet to announce a successor to Floquet as Chief Operating Officer of Allianz Partners.
The leadership changes form part of Allianz’s wider Connected Platforms approach, which brings together digital technology, insurance products and international service networks. The group describes the model as a way of providing more personalised customer experiences while connecting capabilities across markets and business areas.
Kroetz, Floquet and Kunzmann have each contributed to the development of the Connected Platforms approach under Sirma Boshnakova, a Member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE responsible for Insurance Western & Southern Europe, Allianz Direct and Allianz Partners.
Boshnakova said: “Allianz Partners and Allianz Direct are central to our ambition to build Connected Platforms, Allianz’s irreplicable combination of AI-enabled technology with real-world global service networks that bring individualised solutions and simplified interfaces within reach for our customers.
“As we bring our businesses closer together and centre them around our customers, we can not only reimagine customer journeys but also create stronger connections between our people and leaders. Philipp and Laurent have both demonstrated how the right digital insurance models can create meaningful, differentiated value for our customers as well as for our shareholders.
“I am pleased that they will bring their experience and ethic of close collaboration to their expanded responsibilities as we continue to build the capabilities and momentum needed for our next phase of growth.”
Kroetz has headed Allianz Direct since January 2022. During his tenure, Allianz Direct has expanded its customer base to more than 3.2 million across five European markets and renewed its digital platform. The company reports that its customer rating increased from 4.4 to 4.6 stars during this period.
Allianz Direct recorded total business volume of more than €1.5 billion in 2025, according to Allianz, alongside a combined ratio of 95% and year-on-year growth of 23%. The company has also highlighted several technology developments introduced during Kroetz’s leadership, including AI-supported claims settlement and indicative pricing through ChatGPT.
Kroetz joined Allianz Group from McKinsey & Company in 2011 and subsequently spent a decade at Allianz Partners in a range of functions and business lines. He was Regional Chief Executive Officer for the German-speaking countries for three years before becoming Chief Transformation Officer and a Member of the Board of Management in 2019.
In that role, Kroetz was responsible for the global scaling and standardisation of products, processes and platforms. He holds a master’s degree in Finance and Accounting from the London School of Economics and a Diplom-Kaufmann degree from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
Floquet has been Chief Operating Officer of Allianz Partners since January 2025. His responsibilities have included the implementation of AI-assisted customer services, including AI voice agents and automated claims handling across roadside assistance, travel and medical services.
Before becoming Chief Operating Officer, Floquet was a Member of the Board of Management responsible for the Assistance business. He joined Allianz Group in 2014 as Head of Business Development at Allianz Technology. In 2016, he became Chief Sales Officer for the Assistance business at Allianz Partners, where he led the sales organisation and worked on the development of Global Accounts for Assistance.
Floquet went on to serve as Regional Chief Executive Officer for the DACH and Eastern European markets between 2019 and 2021 before becoming Chief Officer for Mobility & Assistance in 2022. Prior to joining Allianz, Floquet spent more than 10 years at Accenture as a partner specialising in the insurance sector. He holds an MBA from E.M. Lyon.
