Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), a leading insurance provider and part of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced the appointment of Luis Prato as President of LSM London, effective from December 2023.
Prato will report to Phil Hobbs, President and Managing Director of LSM.
In his newly created role, Prato will assume the responsibility of defining, owning, and executing the strategic direction for LSM’s London insurance business.
Collaborating closely with London Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) Melanie O’Neill, he will play a pivotal role in formulating the annual plan for London, while driving a successful client and broker strategy that aligns with LSM’s risk appetite and the evolving market conditions.
Phil Hobbs, President and Managing Director of LSM, expressed his confidence in Prato’s appointment, stating, “Luis is a respected market leader with long-standing experience and a proven track record of delivering underwriting profitability in large organisations.”
Hobbs further emphasised the strength of LSM’s product range, its market-leading brand proposition, and its long-term approach to risk. He believes that with Prato at the helm of LSM’s London business, the company will continue to provide exceptional solutions to its clients and broking partners.
Prato joins LSM from AXA XL, where he served as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of Lloyd’s and the UK since 2018.
Prior to his tenure at AXA XL, Prato held the position of Head of Energy at XL Catlin.
