Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance, has appointed Beatriz Protasio as Head of Distribution for Latin America and the US.
Based in Miami, Protasio will report to LSM President for Latin America and the US, Ronald Bolaños and LSM Head of Business Development and Market Relationships, Mark Stephenson.
Within this role, she will be responsible for business development and retention across the region, drawing upon Liberty Mutual’s full range of commercial insurance products to help brokers and buyers better manage the complex risks they face.
Prior to being appointed to this new role, Protasio served as LSM’s Brazil’s Country Manager. While serving in this role, she successfully developed and scaled the operation and strengthened relationships with local brokers and clients.

Protasio’s appointment adds to the list of recent leadership changes that have been taking place across LSM over the last month. This includes the promotion of Huw Owen, who was recently named Global Head of Financial Risk Solutions (FRS), and Melanie O’Neill, who was recently promoted to the role of Chief Underwriting Officer in London.
