Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has promoted James Boyle to the newly created role of Head of Energy, London, effective immediately.
According to LSM, Boyle is perfectly placed to lead its underwriting team.
Boyle and his team will continue to work closely with LSM’s in-house risk engineers and claims team to provide agile solutions for clients and brokers.
Boyle will have a dual line of reporting to Melanie O’Neill, Chief Underwriting Officer, London, and Ronald Bolaños, LSM’s CUO and Global Head of Energy.
O’Neill commented on the appointment, “I am really happy to congratulate James on his new role. Since joining Liberty in 2021, he has risen through the ranks and become an invaluable member of the team.
“I am confident that he will continue to provide excellent leadership and drive the London energy team to deliver for our clients and broking partners now and in the future.”
Boyle is a market veteran with more than 15 years of London market experience, with his first London Market role in 2007.
He joined Liberty in 2021 as Senior Underwriter, Onshore Energy, before being promoted in 2022 to Underwriting Manager, Onshore Energy.
Most recently, Boyle served as the Vice President, Senior Underwriter, Onshore Energy for Swiss Re.
LSM has also recently hired Andrew Jackson as Global Head of Business Development and Market Management.
