Lloyd’s has announced the appointment of Yelhis Hernandez as country manager for Mexico and Sebastian Gomez as country manager for Colombia as the company looks to bolster its market in Latin America.
Based in Mexico City, Hernandez has been conducting the role since September 2019 with a focus on improving Lloyd’s market access across Mexico by supporting Managing Agents on the ground and acting as a liaison with the local regulator.
She was previously a Business Development Executive for Lloyd’s in Latin America and has more than 20 years of re/insurance sector experience.
In addition to his responsibilities helping to protect and promote the Lloyd’s market in Colombia, Gomez will also support Lloyd’s market development activities across Spanish speaking South America, as a Market Development Manager.
He is a re/insurance sector veteran with more than 18 years of experience working in London, Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
In addition to Lloyd’s offices in Mexico, Brazil and Colombia, Lloyd’s has recently bolstered its presence in Latin America by establishing a regional hub in Miami, led by Lloyd’s Regional Head of Latin America and the Caribbean, Daniel Revilla.
“At Lloyd’s we are working hard to drive further growth for the Market across our network of offices in Latin America, driven from our new regional hub in Miami,” said Revilla.
“I am delighted to have been able to promote Yelhis and to officially welcome Sebastian to the team. Their collective expertise and knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to support our customers and business partners in the region.
“Our immediate priorities and focus are to deliver the support that our market expects from us, particularly through the COVID-19 crisis. But we must also remain focused on the Future at Lloyd’s strategy.
“By helping to ensure that we make it even easier for our partners to do business with Lloyd’s we will continue to provide highly innovative solutions that respond to our customers changing needs.”
