Lloyd’s of London Chief Executive Officer John Neal is undergoing treatment in hospital after sustaining “serious injuries” from a collision with a car.
A statement from the specialty insurance and reinsurance marketplace says that Neal had been riding his bike on Saturday 26th March when the collision occurred.
The Lloyd’s boss is expected to make a full recovery, but leadership contingencies are being put in place for the market while Neal is being treated.
In the meantime, Lloyd’s will be led by Executive Directors Burkhard Keese, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, and Patrick Tiernan, Chief of Markets.
The Directors will also receive support from Lloyd’s wider Executive Committee and oversight from Lloyd’s Chairman Bruce Carnegie Brown.
The nature and degree of severity of the injuries sustained by the Lloyd’s CEO are not known to the industry at time of writing.
Regardless, Reinsurance News wishes a speedy recovery to John Neal, with hopes that he is able to return to good health, and to his position at Lloyd’s, as soon as possible.
