Lloyd’s, the global insurance and reinsurance marketplace, has confirmed Claire Schrader as General Counsel, responsible for managing legal risk at Lloyd’s.
Schrader, who also will also remain a member of Lloyd’s Executive Committee, had been performing this role on an interim basis since August 2023 as Peter Spires, Lloyd’s former General Counsel, decided to step down from the position.
A qualified solicitor, with over two decades of experience in law and the insurance sector, Schrader is a renowned veteran across the industry, who has worked at Lloyd’s since 2000.
She started her tenure at Lloyd’s as a solicitor, before going on to become Head of Legal in January 2017.
During her time at Lloyd’s, she built a strong reputation among her colleagues in the Corporation and throughout the market as a trusted legal adviser.
Schrader has an extensive knowledge of the insurance industry and the frameworks (both regulatory and otherwise) that form the backbone of the Lloyd’s market as known today.
Commenting on the appointment, John Neal, Lloyd’s CEO said: “During Claire’s time at Lloyd’s she has built a strong reputation among her colleagues in the Corporation and throughout the market as a trusted legal adviser.
“She is a great role model for our future leaders, and I’m extremely pleased to confirm her permanently in a role which is critical to Lloyd’s delivering on its strategic priorities.”
