The Lloyd’s Market Association’s (LMA) Worldwide Property Panel has named Dean Pitts, Managing Director – Property Open Market at Markel, as its new Chairman, replacing the outgoing Nick Jones of Apollo.
The Worldwide Property Panel leads on numerous issues impacting Lloyd’s of London managing agents and syndicates, on behalf of the Lloyd’s marketplace.
Alongside Pitts, XL Catlin’s Rhys Thomas, Hiscox’s Michael Williams and AmTrust’s Mark Abrahams have been elected to the panel. While Derek Hansen of Sompo Canopius and Simon Clegg of Atrium have been re-elected to the panel, all for a three-year term.
In 2018, the panel will focus on engaging with the Placing Platform Limited (PPL) project team and brokers, to make sure the platform provides efficiencies to the underwriting process, after PPL went live for property risks in November, 2017.
The panel will also discuss the growing cyber threat, as well as further analysis of the impacts of third and fourth-quarter 2017 catastrophe events.
Pitts, who takes on the role as Chairman of the panel with immediate effect, commented; “I am pleased to have been appointed to chair the LMA’s Worldwide Property Business Panel. I look forward to advancing the Panel’s objectives for the benefit of the property underwriting market at Lloyd’s. I would also like to thank Nick Jones for his work as Chairman in 2017.”
